Sign Up as a grill team!
Join the fun by forming a Grill Team! Grill Teams are responsible for bringing and operating their own grilling equipment and providing meat samples for Man Church attendees. There is no minimum or maximum number of participants per team, so grab your friends and come ready to grill! Every Grill Team will compete for two awards: Crowd Favorite, chosen by Man Church attendees, and Judges’ Choice, selected by a panel of judges.
What are we Cooking?
Public Tasting (5:00-6:30 PM)
Teams can prepare any grilled, smoked, or cooked item they choose.
Judged Competition (Ready by 4:30 PM)
Teams participating in judging must prepare:

- Samples must be 4 oz. or less
- Samples are intended to be bite-sized/small portions—not full meals

- One pork item
- One chicken item
- One side item
Judging & People's Choice
First & Second Place Judging
People’s Choice
People’s Choice voting will take place during the public tasting from 5:00–6:30 PM. Attendees will receive a voting ticket and can use it to vote for their favorite samples throughout the evening.
- Judging begins at 4:30 PM.
- Three judges will evaluate each team.
- Judging is blind—teams will be identified by numbers.
- All three judged items must be prepared and ready by 4:30 PM.
- Samples will be delivered to an on-site judging station.
- Judges will score each entry based on:
- Flavor and taste
- Presentation and preparation
- Savory and tender nature
- Technique or uniqueness
- Judges will submit their scores anonymously.
People’s Choice
People’s Choice voting will take place during the public tasting from 5:00–6:30 PM. Attendees will receive a voting ticket and can use it to vote for their favorite samples throughout the evening.

What Does My Team Need to Bring?
Teams provide their own:
- Grill, smoker, or other cooking equipment
- Small equipment and kitchen utensils
- Oven mitts
- Cutting boards
- Knives
- Pots, pans, bowls, plates, etc.
- Seasonings, sauces, rubs and other cooking supplies
- Small paper cups or plates for serving samples
- Cleaning supplies
- Hand wipes
- Table coverings
- Chairs, if desired
- Generators, if needed
Christ Place Church is not responsible for loss or damage to utensils, equipment, or other personal property.
Grill Team Arrival Information
- Saturday arrival: 6:00 PM or later
- Sunday arrival: No earlier than 1:00 PM
- All teams must be fully set up by 3:00 PM Sunday!
- Teams may begin long cooks at home if they follow food-safety requirements.
- Teams are not required to cook overnight.
Food Saftey
Teams must follow all applicable food-safety guidelines.
- Protein must not remain between 41°F and 135°F for more than four hours
- Internal temperature must reach 145°F whole
- Internal temperature must reach 155°F if injected
- Teams cooking long-cook proteins at home must still follow these food-safety requirements
