2 Timothy 2: 1-2 “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”
I’ve always wanted my life to matter, to make an impact for the Kingdom of Christ. But whenever I thought about doing something BIG, I had no idea where to begin. I would quickly become discouraged because I did not have a platform to speak from, a massive church to lead, or a mission field to move to. What was I missing? I did not want to waste my life! Some of you are probably thinking the same thing. So, what do we do?
We must realize that we do not need any of those things to do something BIG! The conference speakers, church leaders, and missionaries I’ve met were not focused on making platforms for themselves; they were focused on making disciples. We are called to multiply. We are called to make disciples. You have this opportunity each and every day! The truth is, every believer can make an impact with their life. Sharing the Gospel and making disciples is what matters.
Read the words from Paul to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:1-2. Paul tells Timothy to be empowered by the grace of God and to entrust the Gospel to others so that they can teach others! Paul is telling Timothy to disciple others, who will, in turn, disciple others! See, Paul discipled Timothy, who then discipled other men, who were going to disciple others! Paul multiplied his Gospel impact by discipling someone who in turn, discipled others.
Believer, if you want to make an impact with your life, stand in the power of the Holy Spirit and start making disciples! Start with a close friend, some family, or your children. I would encourage you to reach out to a church pastor or leader with any questions about making disciples. Also, an incredible resource on this topic is a book titled “Growing Up” by Robby Gallaty. Remember, do not make platforms, make disciples! This has always been Jesus’ plan to impact the world.
